Enjoying Each Day

I sure do love wearing these red pants. Not only is the color super fun and brightens my mood immediately, but they are also very comfortable and perfect for hot days. Lately I've been living in a state of panic. I've been having some apartment issues, my landlord won't allow me to install and air conditioner, even though it's been in the 90s everyday. Also, everyday that I go into work I get bombarded with even more work and constantly being told how they want me to stay longer than my initial 6 months. Can I make that kind of commitment? They want me to stay until Christmas, which would be the first time that I won't be home for Thanksgiving. Is it even possible to convince the girl subletting my apartment to stay for an extra month. Since I have a sucky landlord, I'll have to move and learn how to navigate a new neighborhood. All these things have made for many sleepless nights and mini freak outs. So back to the pants, this past weekend I put them on and felt instantly better. It's true what they say, if you're feeling down dress the way you want to feel. These pictures were taken on my final weekend in NYC and it made me realize what an amazing opportunity I am experiencing right now. I'll be home in less than a year and so I should enjoy each day I'm living in a place that's not familiar to me at all. With my favorite red pants, I'm turning a new leaf and just taking each day as it comes.

Missing The Cool Breeze

Do you ever wake up one morning wishing for it to be cold outside, instead of the constant 90 degree days you've been experiencing. Well that's what's going on with me. Currently I am a sweltering and sweaty mess living in a new continent for 6 months. The one thing I miss about NYC (outside of family and friends) is my air conditioned apartment and the cool weather I left behind. I took these pictures a week before I left for West Africa and I'm finally getting around to posting them. I finally got some Internet connection in my apartment!!!! I sure do miss cool days and nights, hopefully I'll get used to the warmer climate soon!

Blowing Up

Since I got this skirt I've already worn it a few times. It was the most perfect birthday gift I got this year, since I've worn it more times than I will admit. The day I was taking these pictures it was super windy and my skirt kept blowing up. That's only annoying when walking down the street and a gust if wind blows your skirt up in front of a train platform filled with people.

Patterns Within Clouds

Things have been changing lately, especially the weather. It went from early June temperatures to late winter temperatures in a matter of days. I'm back to wearing my coat and sometimes my jacket. I always have to check the weather before going out in the morning, so I know how warm I need to dress for that day. I can't wait till things calm down and I know what to expect. I guess that's also how I feel about my life with all the new changes happening. I'm feeling all over the place and looking forward to when things make sense again.

Chicago

Went to Chicago last month for a job/fellowship interview and spent all my free time sightseeing and eating. I had never been before and really enjoyed my first time exploring this lovely city. I tried my first deep dish pizza, which was amazing. Can we talk about how awesome it is to eat a big bread bowl of cheese, cause that's what a deep dish is all about. I still don't know how anyone can actually eat more than one slice, cause it's just so rich. Maybe on a not so busy weekend, I may try my hand at making my own homemade version. Chicago, reminds me of a cleaner, smaller version of New York. I really fell in love with this city and what it had to offer. I can't wait till my next visit. By the way I got the fellowship. I will be leaving for Africa next week and will be there for 6 months. I can't wait ti share pictures of a new country and culture.
